The Golf Club at Cedar Creek

Local Rules

Out of Bounds

The boundary of the course is defined by square white posts.  In the absence of these posts, the boundary is defined by residential property markers (round white posts):  all residential properties, whether developed/occupied or not, are out of bounds, except for such portions that lie within the boundary as defined by square white posts.

All Cedar Creek roads are out of bounds, whether marked or not.  Specifically, Club Drive behind the 2nd green, Belle Mead Drive to the right of the 2nd green, Club Drive to the right of the 7th green and Haddington Way to the right of the 15th hole as far as the 150-yard marker, are unmarked but are out of bounds.

Water Hazards

Water hazards are marked with yellow stakes and/or lines, lateral water hazards with red stakes and/or lines, in accordance with the Definitions.

The lateral water hazards to the right of the men’s tees and to the right of the pond on the 3rd hole, the lateral water hazard to the left of the 5th green and the lateral water hazards to the right and left of the 11th hole are all deemed to extend to infinity:  the option to drop a ball behind the hazard under Rule 26-1b is not available.

Abnormal Ground Conditions / Ground Under Repair

In addition to any area of the course specifically marked as Ground Under Repair, the following conditions will be considered Abnormal Ground Conditions.  Through the green, a player whose ball lies in, or whose stance or intended swing area is interfered by, any of these conditions may take relief without penalty, within one club length of the nearest point of relief, not nearer the hole (Rule 25-1).  Penalty for breach of local rule:  Match play – Loss of hole;  Stroke play – 2 strokes.

  • Earth/grass covered drainage ditches (french drains), i.e. those with rocks or stones in or beneath the grass that could cause damage to a club,

  • Artificial water diversion ditches marked by white painted lines.

The azalea plantings to the right of the 2nd green as defined by the layer of pine straw mulch, and the plantings to the left and above the 2nd green, are Ground under Repair from which play is prohibited.  The Memorial Garden area to the right of the 7th green is also Ground under Repair from which play is prohibited.  If a player's ball lies in the area, or if it interferes with the player’s stance or the area of his/her intended swing, the player must take relief under Rule 25-1.

Rules for the day will be determined and posted by the Director of Golf dependent upon the weather and course conditions.

  • On any hole(s) designated by the Director of Golf as ‘Cart Path Only’, a ball on any closely mown area through the green may be lifted without penalty, cleaned and placed within one club-length of the spot where it lay, not nearer the hole.  Penalty for breach of local rule:  Match play – Loss of hole;  Stroke play – 2 strokes.

Obstructions

Interference by an immovable obstruction (Rule 24-2) occurs when a ball lies in or on an obstruction, or when the obstruction interferes with a player’s stance or the area of his intended swing.  Intervention on the line of play is not, of itself, interference under this Rule.  A player may take relief without penalty, within one club length of the nearest point of relief, not nearer the hole.  Immovable obstructions include, but are not necessarily limited to, the following:

  • Electrical junction/control boxes anywhere on the course,

  • Protective raised ropes (green and white ropes on green posts) anywhere on the course,

  • Water dispensers and trash receptacles,

  • Sprinkler heads, embedded yardage markers and drainage gratings anywhere on the course.

Yellow cart ropes crossing some fairways, and white 150-yard marker posts, are movable obstructions.

Waste Areas

There are waste areas on the left side of the 12th hole, the left side of the 13th hole and the right side of the 14th hole which are not defined as hazards.  Grounding of clubs and removal of loose impediments is permitted.  Please do not drive carts in these waste areas.

Distance-Measuring Devices

For all play at this course, a player may obtain distance information by using a device that measures distance only. However, if, during a stipulated round, a player uses a distance-measuring device that is designed to gauge or measure other conditions that might affect his play (e.g., gradient, wind-speed, temperature, etc.), the player is in breach of Rule 14-3, for which the penalty is disqualification, regardless of whether any such additional functions are actually used.
